Being locked up in the house can drive the best of us nuts! Sometimes you need to just get out and take a cruise. Escape the city life and take drive on out to the Texas Hill Country!
The Devil’s Backbone – The Devil’s Backbone is a limestone ridge running through the Texas Hill Country, a gorgeous scenic drive awaits. The drive runs between Winberley and Blanco where you will find colorful blooms of the Texas Wildflowers, cacti and juniper and tons of live oak. And don’t forget to stop off at the Devil’s Backbone Tavern for a refreshment! If you get adventurous, take the drive at night on Purgatory Road, they say it’s haunted!
Willow City Loop – Just outside of Fredericksburg you will find a rugged landscape with canyons, cliffs, streams and some of the best panoramic views in the Texas Hill Country. BUC-EE’S in New Braunfels – We live in Encino Park, which is located near 1604/281 in San Antonio, TX. We take the long route to escape to Buc-ee’s to enjoy the Texas Hill Country. Take 281 North, take a right on Highway 1863/Bulverde and enjoy the ride for about 17 miles until you reach the New Braunfels area. Enjoy some of the cleanest restrooms you will ever step foot in, along with a HUGE variety of eats and drinks. From old school sodas to beef jerky, sandwiches, BBQ, 100’s of snacks and more. To many options to list, go take a drive and thank us later! See the below link for more information, you will not be disappointed!
2 Hour Drive to Corpus – While this isn’t the most scenic drive, it’s a straight shot down 281 south for about 2 hours. We just drove this the other day to get out of the house and hit our favorite spots. We grabbed lunch to-go at Snoopy’s Pier, which is home to some of the best fish n chips, unsweet ice tea and delicious fried shrimp! We parked under the bridge and ate our lunch while watching people fish. And of course, the trip wasn’t complete without going to Panjos Pizza. You can find them on FB, they do not have a site. Crispy crust and there is just something about that cheese they use! Delicious! We tore through that pizza on the ride home!
